Ekaterina Izvekova's profile

Ripa Ripa pattern design

Founded in Milano, Ripa Ripa stands for spontaneous, understated elegance combined with contemporary design and traditional Italian craftsmanship. The "Fragments of summer" 2022 swim collection is inspired by the rich fragments of summer that stayed in our memory upon the returns from the travels, the vivid colours and motifs of nature, the ancient textiles and ceramics, the work of artists like Renzo Mongiardino and places like Museo delle Maioliche Stanze al Genio in Palermo. At first glance an abstract composition of often not related flashbacks, yet all united by the beauty of Italian summer.

Reimagined in fresh colourways and techniques to provide another perspective, the swim collection features very special patterns drawn by hand with the care and attention usually given to an art or design object, considering every little detail during the creation process. And I am more than happy to share un’altra estate Mediterranea reinterpreted through our eyes.

Mosaico

Museo delle Maioliche Stanze Al Genio in Palermo featuring a collection of over 5,000 tiles, many dating back to the late 16th century. The treasured place that served as inspiration for the creation of Mosaico, a sophisticated yet laconic design of relaxed tones selected in mind for long summer days under open skies that opened "The Fragments of Summer" series.

Toscano

On the border of Tuscany and Umbria, when the sun was still not high, when the day had just set its beginning, Toscano was born. In between our movements from and to another sea destination, we once stopped at our dear friends’ Villa Cozzano. The work on the Fragments of Summer collection had just been commenced at a time so a pensive moment under a tree sketching and writing seemed like a natural way to meet a new day.

Tramonto & Notte Fonda

As we are spending days and nights in preparation for the approaching season, the dedicated to Fragments of Summer series shall be called to come to a close, leaving space to the new. While a big part of the swim collection is represented by intricate ornaments and an orchestra of diverse colours gifting a different and refreshed feeling to what one might have been used to, the last designs bring tranquillity and peace to the initiated outburst of shades and frenzy of patterns.

Rich wine bordeaux and deep blue gave a hand in finding the perfect names to represent each of the patterns. Tramonto translating as sunset from Italian and Notte Fonda meaning profound night, playing well with their conclusive role of the story.
Savour today’s sunset and the night there is to follow…
